Comedian Dave Hemstad delivers like a veteran in opening round of Star Amateur
In 1999 Dave won the inaugural Toronto Star Amateur golf tournament. This past Monday he brought the ball he used to win back then to reminisce with tournament organizer Glenn Goodwin, as he competes in this year’s event.
“Hemstad would love nothing more than to win this final edition of the Star Amateur, a victory that would nicely tie up his 20 years at the event. He’s in prime position to do so, holding a two-shot lead over Mike Dinner of the Eagle Ridge Golf Club.”
